Terms of service

Last updated September 30, 2026

These terms apply to merchants who install Mint Downloads ("the app"), made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

The service

The app stores files you upload and delivers them, and license keys you import, to customers who pay for the products you choose: on the Thank you page, on the Order status page and by email. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a paid feature you rely on without notice.

Your content

You keep all rights to the files and license keys you upload. You confirm you have the right to sell and distribute them, and that they don't contain malware or unlawful material. We only use your files to deliver them to your buyers and never access their contents except when you ask us to help with a support issue. We may remove files that breach these terms or the law.

Delivery

Delivery happens when Shopify reports an order as paid. Download links are signed and can expire, and downloads can be limited, as you configure. Emails depend on the buyer's email provider and on our email service being available; the Thank you and Order status pages show the downloads independently of email. You remain responsible for your customer service, refunds and licensing terms.

Billing

Plans are billed by Shopify every 30 days in USD after the free trial. There are no fees per order, per download or per amount of data served. You can cancel at any time by changing plans or uninstalling the app. Charges are handled entirely by Shopify under Shopify's terms.

Uninstalling

When you uninstall, buyers' download links keep working until Shopify asks us to delete the store's data (48 hours later). Then your files, license keys and all delivery records are permanently deleted. Download your files and keys before uninstalling if you need them.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the app available, accurate and secure, but it is provided "as is". Keep your own copies of your files. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 3 months before a claim.

Data processing addendum

When the app processes personal data of your customers on your behalf, you are the controller and we are the processor. We will:

  • process personal data only to provide the app's features, following your instructions given through the app's settings;
  • process only the minimum data needed: we store Shopify order and line IDs, order numbers, item titles, the files and license keys delivered and download counts — never names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses; a buyer's email address is used only to send the download email and is not stored; download devices are kept only as a keyed one-way hash for 24 hours;
  • never sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models;
  • keep it confidential and limit access to authorised personnel;
  • encrypt it in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Cloudflare D1 and R2 encryption at rest);
  • use Cloudflare (hosting, database, file storage and email sending) and Shopify as our only sub-processors;
  • delete download records 90 days after a download period ends, delete a customer's order records when Shopify sends an erasure request, and delete all store data and files after uninstall (shop redaction);
  • help you respond to data subject requests (the app lets you download what it holds about a customer's orders) and notify you without undue delay of any personal data breach.

Changes

We will post changes to these terms here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
